Harry Styles has built his entire brand around the phrase “Treat People With Kindness.” He literally put it on merch. He says it at every single show. So when video surfaced yesterday of Harry absolutely going off on a man following him through the streets of New York City, the internet had one collective reaction: this man really pushed the nicest person in music to his absolute limit.
The 32-year-old singer — currently mid-way through his sold-out 30-show “Together, Together” residency at Madison Square Garden — was spotted in a heated confrontation Wednesday with a man carrying a stack of Fine Line vinyls, clearly hoping to score signatures he could flip for thousands online. Rather than quietly brushing past him, Harry stopped, pointed fingers, and gave the guy what witnesses described as a “proper scolding.” His security eventually approached a nearby police cruiser. Officers arrived. Nobody was arrested. The autograph hunter just kept following him for several more blocks anyway.
The whole thing was caught on video. Obviously.

Harry was dressed for anonymity — grey hoodie, baseball cap, sunglasses — which clearly wasn’t working. The autograph seeker wasn’t a fan. Fans online immediately recognized the man as a known dealer who stakes out celebrity hotspots to snag signings that go straight to eBay. Multiple people in the replies noted he’d been clocked harassing artists for years. Harry, to his credit, held it together far longer than most would have.
this guy is known for stalking and harassing artists to sell autographs for thousands. harry was patient for SO long before he lost it. he was being followed and provoked for blocks. the way this man finally snapped is completely understandable 💔
Context matters here: the day before this happened, Harry stopped mid-stride outside the Knicks season opener to sign an autograph for a real fan. He turned back around specifically to do it. That’s who this man is. He also left a handwritten note for a Make-A-Wish fan’s service dog backstage at MSG last week. The autograph scalper didn’t accidentally catch Harry on a bad day — he pushed someone genuinely patient to a breaking point after following him through city blocks.
Fans were not having it.

The man in question — who police declined to arrest or remove — continued trailing Styles for several more blocks after the confrontation, appearing in a second clip just walking beside him like the whole thing hadn’t happened. Chaotic does not begin to cover it.
Harry has 10 more shows left in his MSG residency through October 31st. One hopes security has a plan.
